The Lash Kit Essentials: What You Actually Need to Start Lashing

Building Your Beginner Lash Kit

Starting out as a lash artist can feel overwhelming with so many products on the market. The truth
is—you don’t need everything right away. A smart, streamlined kit will save you money and help you
focus on mastering the basics.

Essentials You’ll Actually Use

Before diving into every curl and length under the sun, here’s what you’ll want in your first kit:

  • Sterilising items – to keep your tools hygienic and client-safe.
  • A lash bed and a stool on wheels – for client comfort and to protect your back
    during long sets.
  • Good lighting – precision comes down to visibility.
  • Mini fan – helps dry lashes and keeps clients comfortable.
  • Lash trays – start with CC curl as your go-to, then add mixed trays of B, C, and M.
  • Lash storage – keeps everything organised and sanitary.
  • Adhesive (glue) – clear formulas are a safe beginner-friendly choice.
  • Lash cleanser – for prepping natural lashes and maintaining retention.
  • Disposables – spoolies, micro brushes, under-eye pads, and gentle tape.

You can find all of my beginner essentials on my Amazon storefront for a ready-to-
go shopping list.

Lash Trays: Start Small, Build Smart

There’s no point paying for every curl, length, and diameter of lashes straight away. Instead:

  • Stock up on CC curl – the most universal and flattering curl for beginners.
  • Add mixed trays of B, C, and M curls – these give you flexibility without overwhelm.
  • Stick to 7–12mm lengths – with 9–11mm being the most commonly used in everyday sets.

As you gain experience and confidence with styling, you can slowly build your
collection with additional curls, diameters, and lengths. This way, you’re only buying
what you’ll actually use.
